Asia Water Forum 2010
In our role as UK / European representatives for the Sarawak Convention Bureau and the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching we identified 12 qualified international association clients and accompanied them on a site visit to Sarawak in January 2008.
These clients were treated to a fantastic familiarisation visit to Borneo which included the orangutans, the rainforest and a visit to the Iban tribe in a longhouse, a real “destination” sell.
As a result of the visit, one of the clients confirmed their Asia Water Forum conference in Sarawak which took place in March 2010. It attracted a total number of 560 delegates from 46 countries. Subsequent congresses are now in the bid process as a result of this original visit and a further site visit was made in March 2011 for 6 international associations headquartered in the UK and Belgium to capitalise on our past success.
Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London
Watterston Associates has been employed to carry out research services for the QEIICC for several years, with a number of strong successes.
Our role is to target international associations that may have the potential to hold their congresses in London, to identify a potential local / national host to bid to host the meeting and to providing the Sales Team at the Centre with leads to convert into contracted event business.
Just this year, as a result of our research, the CIES Consumer Goods Forum is being held at the Centre for 800 delegates. The International Town Centre Management conference is also taking place for 600-800 participants. The Congress of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineering is confirmed for 2011 and several other international conferences are at bidding stage.

UK Launch of the Palacongressi di Rimini in London
Sight, taste, smell, sound and touch were the order of the day for the UK launch of the new Palacongressi di Rimini in London and Watterston Associates were asked to organize a promotional event around this theme. We exclusively hired the Tentazioni Restaurant in Mill Street, London, SE1, which was chosen for its close connection to Rimini as Head Chef and Owner, Mr Riccardo Giacomini, hails from the region himself.
Hosted by the Convention Bureau della Riviera di Rimini (CBRR), Watterston Associates invited UK-based meeting planners to let their five senses take in the delights of Rimini and its newly developed and extensive conference facilities.
The sense of sight was addressed by a Rimini based artist, Francesco Zavatta, whose paintings adorned the walls of the venue with the artist on hand to sign personalised sketches given to guests at the end of the evening.
From the famous Coro Galli from Rimini, Maestro Matteo Salvemini and opera singers, Mr Roberto Falcinelli and Mrs Claudia Corbelli, entertained guests to a collection of musical delights between courses and there was a special demonstration given by Mr Riccardo Giacomini, owner and head chef of the Tentazioni Restaurant, on how to bake Piadina, traditional bread from Rimini.
The evening was highly successful, attended by over 60 UK-based meeting planners with the potential to take their conferences and events to Rimini.
