Destination familiarisation visits are arranged to enable our clients to identify appropriate destinations with the potential to host International Association congress and conference events. We work with the destination to develop the familiarisation visit programmes.

Through our contact network, we can often identify the Association’s national member in the destination and involve them in the process. We help and advise this member, which in our experience, can contribute significantly towards a successful outcome.

Generating Sales Appointments

Watterston Associates is able to utilise its huge international contact database in the generation of sales appointments for clients.

Here is an example of how the process works:
We are contracted by a specific Convention Bureau or Convention Centre whose representative will be visiting a certain city. We will contact International Associations based in this city to establish who may be interest in the destinations we are representing and we set up a relevant appointment schedule. We provide a profile of the clients to the suppliers prior to these meetings.

Client Dinners & Hospitality                      

A recent example of this activity was undertaken on behalf of the Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau. We hosted a London-based dinner for the Bureau, inviting numerous International Association and agency meeting planners based in London.   The Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau made a lot of valuable connections through the process leading to potential business opportunities as well as high-profile media coverage. This is a popular activity for Watterston Associates; we organise networking breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Client / Supplier Workshops                    

We will organise a workshop or a speed networking session for our destination clients.  From our comprehensive database we can qualify relevant meeting planners and invite them to attend to establish a relationship with the destination for future meeting possibilities. The foundations of these relationships are built on by subsequent contact to develop business opportunities.
